Gatordog & Gatorgirl

These two gals are friends 'til the end. Swamp dwellers in the (surprisingly) good part of town, the Gatorgirls spend their days happy and carefree and full of adventure!
Gatordog seems to be the only one of her kind on this planet! Although there aren't many other humans around either... Doesn't stop these gals from living their lives though!
Gatordog & Gatorgirl: Backstory
Gatorgirl wasn't always a wild child, but grew up a normal little girl on a swamp farm, raised by her beloved grandparents! The very guardians who gifted her a little gatordog puppy when she was six. A few years later both grandparents passed away in the same year, leaving a young girl with a huge house that she eventually left for ruin. With the entire swamp as her own backyard, she and her trusty gatordog find plenty of ways to keep busy (and keep their bellies full!)
Gatorgirl loves exploring and dreams about being the most famous scientist on the planet (since all the other ones seem to have died horrible deaths) and she pays close attention to all the flora and fauna of Shantyland during their adventures. Gatordog, on the other hand.. just REALLY loves chickens.
They rarely encounter other people, but are as close as family with the other swamp dwellers. Shantyland isn't a particularly populated planet, so it's imporant to stick together! But the bond between a gatordog and her girl is the strongest of them all!

Gatordog & Gatorgirl: Origins!
In 2009 a very horrifying gatordog was hastily drawn up as a character design assignment for class. Creepily loveable as she was, a sidekick was clearly necessary! Gatorgirl came about shortly afterwards. A year later and some major design edits later, these Gatorgirls became the main characters for my thesis film "Gatordog"!
Although the film never made it to color, the characters never seemed to fade away and are a constant source of good ol' doodling fun, even all these years later. <3

While I'm not going to be the person to "claim" gatordogs as a species (although i'm sure other people already have after the fact) I do love mine dearly and would appreciate it if her design wasn't the direct inspiration for anyone planning on drawing the hybrid themselves C: It's really not hard, and the possibilities are endless! Long live Gatordog!
